HARLEY & BUCK'S LITTER
|
Buck and Harley were bred on December 18, 2007. The puppies
will be born on or about February 20, 2008 and will be available for delivery to their new homes about 8 weeks later. Both dogs are very even tempered
and their puppies should also make great family pets. The puppies will have had their tails docked, dew claws removed,
dewormed and initial set of shots at time of delivery. Click here for information regarding our breeding goals and standards.
Both Buck and Harley have been trained by professional pointing dog trainer Ed Goulart,
who is very knowledgeable with their hunting abilities, trainability, temperament and their lineage. If you think you may
be interested in one of the puppies from this litter, you are invited to telephone Ed at (916) 652-6661 for information concerning current availability, price and making a deposit | |
DESCRIPTION OF THE PARENTS:
Both Harley and Buck are AKC registered purebred Brittanys.
Harley is two years old and is orange and white. Buck is five years old and is an orange roan. It is
likely that their litter will have some of each coloring. Harley and Buck were selected for breeding because they both
have a keen nose and are enthusiastic hunters. They both instinctively tend to hunt where game birds
are most likely to be and cover ground quickly and thoroughly within a comfortable hunting range.
BUCK
Buck achieved his Master Hunter title at only 2
1/2 years of age. Moreove, all four of Buck's grandparents are AKC Master Hunters which is the highest hunt test level
attainable. A Master Hunter is truly "finished" gun dog and throughout the entire United States, on average, only
about 14 Brittanys receive this title each year.
Since
attaining this title Buck has been hunted extensively on a variety of game birds, including pheasant, chuckar, quail,
sage hen partridge and grouse. Although he is a master of all these game birds, he has particularly excelled in
hunting quail. Buck covers a lot of ground quickly and thoroughly paying special attention to likely cover. He
points staunchly, is steady to both wing and shot, marks fallen birds exceptionally well, and swiftly locates and retrieves
downed birds.
HARLEY
Harley was trained for the field and she spent many hours in the field
hunting pheasant with her owner. Because she is very steady when on point she is allowed to range. It is not unusual
for her to find and point a bird a 100 yard out and then hold it until her handler arrives for the flush.
